Mad Men meets Marvel Comics and collides with late eighties Hong Kong. It's like an illustrated guide to the mayhem of this era, dragged through the life of Jack So and all who surround him. The beautifully ascerbic narrative is accelerated by some genius illustration - it's a cadence that works, drawing you deeper into the mayhem of Tong's sage tirade.
An outstanding read made all the more entertaining by the inclusion of hundreds of graphics.
We all know Jack So. Or someone like him. And would love to walk a mile in his shoes.
Flawed, mischievous but essentially well meaning. Echoes of Jax Teller, Ray Donovan and even a hint of Walter White. Can't wait for the next edition in the life and times of Jack So and co.
Poorly written. The author tries too hard. It isn't funny or clever. Just odd. Not recommended.

I can confidently say that this is by far the best English language graphic novel thriller set in Hong Kong in the 1980s.
Worth the price just for the humour. A bargain if only for the drama, thrills, and spills. And a lot of fun for having pun after pun.
Worth getting two copies of the hardback - one to keep, and one to cut up for the artwork by James Ng, if you like your posters small! It's superb.

Unlike anything you've ever read. Intelligent, rich prose glued comfortably together by storyboard style graphics. Great characters, starting with Jack So (and his sensual female counterparts), and a rollicking plot. Take notice. Everyone will be talking about Jack So, author Richard Tong and this style of delivery. This first book has only just been reIeased and I'm already looking forward to their next misadventure.
